MANUFACTURE OF COMPOSITE CONTACT STRIP MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To obtain composite contact strip material high and stable in bonding strengths between three faces of a long size surface of a silver oxide contact material and a strip material of silver or silver alloy by extruding and drawing a composite billet composed of core material of silver oxide and covering material of silver or silver alloy to make composite wire. CONSTITUTION:Since the composite billet 12 is extruded and drawn to make the composite wire 13', the bonding strength between silver oxide of core material 10 and silver or silver alloy of covering material 11 is high and stable. Since the composite wire 13' is cross-rolled from the direction vertical to the lengthwise direction, the thicknesses of the covering material 11 are not reduced on both side ends and on the upper and lower surfaces like the case that it is rolled simply in the lengthwise direction and it is possible to obtain wide composite strip material 15 having covering material 11 uniform in thickness pulled. Then, since the covering material 11 of the upper surface of the wide composite strip material 15 is only cut and removed, it is possible to easily and productively manufacture the composite contact strip material.
