In order, in a heating or air conditioning apparatus for an automotive vehicle having at least one operator-side air distribution adjustment means (LV) and air quantity adjustment means (LM) as well as having a closed-loop/open-loop control unit (RSE) for determining optimum adjustment values with a substantially lower outlay in comparison with a fully automatic heating or air conditioning control, to be able to utilise substantial advantages of such a system and nevertheless not to have to exclude an individual control, according to the invention the calculated adjustment values for the air distribution and the air quantity are presented as display values for a guided external adjustment of the air distribution adjustment means (LV) and of the air quantity adjustment means (LM) on an operating plane (control unit BG) of the automotive vehicle, preferably by means of LEDs (I-VI or 1-6) along the adjustment path.
