PURPOSE: To prevent low response and Barkhausen noise at a high frequency by providing a magnetic element with a structure to permit both of rotational transmission in a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction and executing low magnetic reluctance magnetic flux transmission by magnetization rotation at the high frequency. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head has active layers L1, L2, one of which has sideways intra-surface anisotropy and the other of which has vertical anisotropy. These layers L,1, L2 are separated by a gap layer (g). The layer L1 of the pole 10 has a sideways preferential axis of easy magnetization to the vertical axis of the pole. The magnetic domain structure is relatively large and has a uniform magnetic domain 12 at the center, adjacently to which a relatively small edge magnetic domain 16 exists in the region of the front end 20 of the pole. An extended edge magnetic domain 22 exists in a yoke region 24. The magnetic flux from the medium is read by the magnetic domain d1 at the front end 20. Consequently, the magnetic flux is transmitted by rotation. Next, the layer L2 has the vertical easy axis parallel with the vertical axis of the pole and sideways to the easy axis of the layer L1 and executes substantially sideways rotation transmission. The low magnetic reluctance magnetic flux transmission is executed by the magnetization rotation at the high frequency.
|
