The sealing-ring groove (1) has a rectangular cross-section and has at least one extra annular displacement chamber (12-14) for the sealing-ring (2) and concentric with the groove (1). Three displacement chambers (10,13,14) are in the three sides (11,12,15) of the groove (1). The cross-section of each displacement-chamber (12-14) consists of a concave radius (R2,R3,R4) on the base of the displacement chamber (12-14), and a concave transition radius (R22,R33,R43,R44) between the radius (R2-4) forming the base and the adjacent parts of the sides (10,11,15). USE/ADVANTAGE - With above-average pressure exerted on the sealing-ring, its material is not squeezed, some only of the displacement compartments being compacted.
