The wind driven turbine (1) is used for generating electricity. It has a single wheel which is mounted with its axis horizontal. This wheel is mounted inside a circular frame fitted with rollers which support the wheel by its rim so that the wheel is free to rotate. The circular frame is supported by a tower which is mounted on a circular base. The tower can rotate about its vertical axis to enable the wheel to face in the direction of the wind. The tower has vanes which enable the wind to swing the tower in the required direction. The tower has a height of 300 to 350 metres and the base has a dia. which is approximately equal to the height.
