PURPOSE: To obtain the subject monofilament having a high longitudinal strength and a high knot strength by mixing high mol.wt. polyphenylene sulfide with low mol.wt. polyphenylene sulfide in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION: This polyphenylene sulfide monofilament comprises (A) 60-90 wt.% of high mol.wt. polyphenylene sulfide having a melt flow index of <=100, preferably <=50, and (B) low mol.wt. polyphenylene sulfide having a melt flow index of >=120, preferably >=140, and has a tenacity of >=25 CN/tex, a knot strength of >=60%, a drawn ratio of 3:1 to 5:1, a shrinkage percent of <=10% and a diameter of 0.1-1.0 mm. |
