PICTURE INTERPOLATION SYSTEM AND PICTURE CODING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To attain a smooth magnification interpolation picture white avoiding the increase in the scale of the hardware by applying similar processing to discrete inverse cosine conversion except revision of a conversion matrix in a frequency region where a picture is subject to discrete cosine conversion. CONSTITUTION:A picture data is split into a size of 1XN by a 1XN block segmentation section 1 and a linear discrete cosine conversion is applied in a linear DCT section 2 and the result is stored in a linear frequency buffer 3. A row direction magnification section 7 generates a picture subject to magnification and interpolation at a multiple of (k) in the row direction directly from the linear frequency and consists of a 1X2N block segmentation section, a 2NXkN matrix data section 5 and a matrix multiplication section 6. Since a smooth magnification interpolation picture subject to linear interpolation is obtained, the increase in the scale of hardware is not almost caused.
