STEERING ANGLE DETECTING DEVICE FOR STEERING DEVICE AND ASSEMBLY METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE:To perform reliable detection of a steering angle through simple and low-cost constitution by a method wherein rocking movement of a pitman arm through steering operation is transmitted to a rotary type steering angle sensor through a parallel link system by means of a rotation angle gauge to detect a steering angle. CONSTITUTION:A rotary type steering sensor 20 detects a steering angle on the steering wheel side through detection of the rocking action of a pitman arm 7 the base end part of which is coupled to a coupling end 6b of a sector shaft 6 so that a steering force responding to steering operation is transmitted as rocking movement to the steering wheel side. The rotary type steering angle sensor is mounted to the outside of a steering gear body 2. A detecting arm 21 capable of being positioned in a position neutral to the steering sensor 20 is mounted on a detecting shaft 20a of the steering sensor 20. The free end of the detecting arm 21 is coupled with the part, positioned closer to a rocking end 7a, of the pitman arm 7 through a link lever 22 the length of which is regulatable and which forms a parallel link system in cooperation with the two arms 21 and 7 and a body 2 having fulcrum parts 20a and 6a for the respective arms.
