The use of trinitrotoluene (TNT) for preparation of a bloodvessel relaxing and dilating agent is new. The effect on blood vessel muscle can be detected at levels of TNT as low as 10power-15 molar. In an example: Bovine arterial material was recovered within 30 minutes of slaughter and maintained in a physiological buffer soln. 5mm long samples, fat removed were mounted on a tension measuring device in an organ bath.
