PURPOSE: To efficiently delignify a lignocellulosic material without the production of corrosive pollutional discharges to obtain the delignified product which has good glossiness degree stability and is useful in a papermaking industry by treating the lignocellulosic material with a ligninolytic enzyme and a xylanase. CONSTITUTION: This process for delignifying lignocellulosic material comprises two or more enzymatic delignification stages, wherein the enzymatic delignification stages comprise; one or more ligninolytic enzyme treatment stages, wherein each ligninolytic enzyme treatment stage comprises the step of incubating the lignocellulosic material in a ligninolytic reaction mixture comprising an effective amount of a ligninolytic enzyme preparation; and one or more xylanase treatment stages, wherein each xylanase treatment stage comprises the step of incubating the lignocellulosic material in a xylanase reaction mixture comprising an effective amount of xylanase preparation. It is preferable that wood pulp is used as the lignocellulosic material, and it is also preferable that the ligninolytic enzyme preparation is prepared from a white rot fungus. |
