PURPOSE:To prevent decrease in audio output by controlling the amt. of abrasive in the cut edge surface of a magnetic layer and in the surface of the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:An abrasive having >6 Mohs hardness is incorporated into the magnetic layer in a manner that the average density of the abrasive is 0.3 - 1.4 particle/mum<2> in the surface of the magnetic layer and is made higher by >=0.1 particle/mum<2> in the cut edge surface of the layer. By dispersing more abrasive particles in the cut edge of the magnetic layer than in the surface, damage in edges of a tape due to repeated traveling can be reduced, and thereby, the obtd. medium has enough durability. Thus, decrease in audio output can be prevented. |
