The longitudinal and transverse joint elements, limiting each other, are arranged in element planes and designed with expansion regions. They are welded continuously with each other under the reaction of a shielding gas and, in certain cases in the expansion region, test leads are arranged for monitoring of leaks. A hat-shaped profile strip (60) of corrosion-proof metal is arranged under the longitudinal joint of the elements which, with a central web (604) lying at the underside of the element (1), overlaps the longitudinal joint. The profile strip (60) has two parallel longitudinal grooves (605,606) which act as test lines (40a,40b) and can be connected to the testing unit for introducing a test gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - Civil engineering seal. Can be transported on, e.g. by lorries or fork-lift trucks. Seal after can be tested for efficiency.
