A flame-cutting apparatus for a continuously moving workpiece 10, such as a continuous casting, supported on spaced elements 11 such as rollers, has the space 21 below the elements enclosed by end and side screens 22 and connected to an exhaust duct for removing smoke gases. The support rollers 11 form part of a roller chain which carries the pivoted cutting torch 15 and is adapted to be clamped to the casting 10. Each roller has side wheels 12 running along guide rails 13. The spaces between the rollers are provided with detachable roof-shaped cover-plates (23), Fig. 2 (not shown) and the particular space within which the cutting torch operates has a cover formed by two spaced plates (28). The apparatus may be used for cutting a plurality of parallel castings whereupon a common screening is provided for the entire apparatus. |
