PURPOSE:To generate an artificial environmental sound auditorily equivalent to a natural sound by separating the natural sound into a sound which is generated intermittently and a sound which is generated constantly, generating plural short-time sound materials for the two sounds, and employing continuance data and sound material selection data which accord with the actual conditions of the natural sound for a reproduction pattern. CONSTITUTION:An intermittent natural sound generation part 1 reproduces the independent intermittent natural sound and auditorily equivalent environmental sound and a stationary natural sound generation part 2 reproduces the stationary natural sound and auditorily equivalent to environmental sound. A composition part 7 mixes and outputs the intermittent environmental sound which is reproduced by the intermittent natural sound generation part 1 and adjusted to proper sound quality and proper level balance by a sound quality adjusting device 3 and a sound volume adjusting device 4 and the stationary environmental sound which is reproduced by the stationary natural sound generation part 2 and adjusted to proper sound quality and proper level balance by a sound quality adjusting device 5 and a sound volume adjusting device 6. Thus, different kinds of natural sound generating means are prepared to easily generate environmental sounds corresponding to various environments.
