An arrangement for passing a fan shaped beam through an object contains a transport path for the object leading through a tunnel (3) with a device for transmitting the beam through the object (5). The tunnel is open at the input and output ends. The tunnel dimensions are selected so that no unpermitted radiations emanate from the openings. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for use in passing fan-shaped beams through vehciles and/or containers in order to search them for bombs, weapons, drugs and smuggled goods. Enables rapid vehicle and/or container searching.
