PURPOSE: To obtain an aqueous cosmetic emulsion containing a liquid isoparaffin as a thickening agent, and an 8-22C alkyl phosphate salt as a surfactant, having an excellent beautifying effect and a good skin touch without a sticky feeling. CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic composition is an aqueous cosmetic emulsion containing (A) an 11-13C liquid isoparaffin (e.g.; trimethylnonane and trimethyldecane) and (B) an 8-22C alkyl phosphate salt (e.g.; cetyl phosphate salt) in (40:1)-(1:1) [preferably (10:1)-(4:1)] weight ratio. As the preferable composition, the composition consists of 80-92wt.% water, 1-2wt.% component (A) and 0.1-3wt.% component (B) and has 50-70 Brookfield unit viscosity measured by no.4 spindle rotating at 60rpm at 25 deg.C. The component (A) has an exceptional thickening effect even presenting in a relatively low concentration in an aqueous system and the thickening effect is elevated by the component (B), but the stickiness is decreased in comparison with that of a linear chain hydrocarbon oil.
