A heat-stabilized polycaproamide resin composition comprises by wt. 40-50 p.p.m. CuCl 2 , #0À2% KI; 4-6% water-extractable constituents; the remainder of the composition being polycaproamide. The water-extractable constituents are a major proportion by weight of #-caprolactam and a minor proportion of #- caprolactam oligomer. Also present may be # 0À15% H 2 O. The caprolactam acts as plasticizer. The composition may be in the form of pellets carrying or containing a surface lubricant, e.g. 0À07-0À20% Na stearate. The composition may be prepared by blending two polycaproamide compositions with differing contents of water-extractables, e.g. of 8-11% and 1% or less. The composition may be used to form a pinhole-free film. |
