PURPOSE:To obtain a device which can make stable and accurate jumping scanning, by operating a tracking control means again, after scanning a converting means toward track width direction through an inoperative tracking control means. CONSTITUTION:A shifting means 12 is shifted toward track width direction in response to a signal from a tracking signal detecting means 10 or the like and control is made so that the scanning position of a coverting means is positioned on a track on a recording medium 1 at all times. The tracking control means like this is tentatively made inoperative with, e.g. a switch 14 to scan the scanning position of the converting means on the recording medium 1 toward the track width direction, and the scanning position of the converting means is detected on a desired track with a signal from a tracking signal detecting means 10 or the like, and the tracking control means is operated again for jumping scanning. |
