<p>The invention is a corner assembly for use with a flush fitting protective strip bumper (12). The corner assembly includes a corner piece (50) having a mounting portion (56, 58) and a head portion (60, 62); and an adaptor piece (52), having a mounting portion (58) and a corner engagement portion. Means for positively engaging the corner piece to the adaptor piece are provided, the engagement means comprising cooperative elements unitary with both the corner piece and the adaptor piece. In one embodiment, the positive engagement means comprises a tongue (70) of the corner engagement portion of the adaptor piece (52) in the form of a quarter of a disk with a tangentially extending tongue projection (62) and a receptacle (64) within the head of said corner piece in the form of a quarter of a disk with a tangentially extending lock extension (68, 78).</p> |
