The furniture unit has at least one open shelf compartment and one shelf compartment closable by a door (16) which is ixed at the transition from one compartment to the other where it can be brought selectively into one of two closing positions in order to close one or other of the compartments. The two compartments can be mounted in a wide side of the furniture unit and the door can be fixed by a 180 deg.hinge. It is possible to fix two doors which can be foled against each other to close one compartment or opened out to close two compartments. USE/ADVANTAGE - Greater versatility.
