<p>A method is described of diffusion bonding components (10, 12, 14) prior to superplastic forming them into a desired shape, the method comprising applying stopping-off material to selected areas (18, 20, 22) of the components, forming the components into a stack and pressing the stack together under heat to form a diffusion bond between the components, the stopping-off material preventing such a bond forming in the selected area(s); the bonded stack can then be formed superplastically to the desired shape. The invention lies in applying the stopping-off material by plasma spraying.</p> |
