METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING ANALOG VIDEO INFORMATION VIA FIBER OPTIC LINK AND OPICAL SIGNAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To hold channel gain at a fixed level by inserting a reference white level pulse for a blanking period and adjusting the gain of a receiving amplifier based on a change received during the transmission of the reference pulse through an optical channel. CONSTITUTION: The system is provided with an electro-optical transmitter 10, an optical fiber cable 12 and an electro-optical receiver 14. The transmitter 10 generates a reference white pulse, inserts the reference white pulse during the blanking period of an electric signal expressing video information to be displayed and generates and outputs a stream alternately having analog electric signals and pulse electric signals. The receiver 14 receives an optical signal, measures amplitude variation generated in the reference white pulse and adjusts the gain of the receiver 14 itself by using the variation. Consequently an ideal optical channel for transmitting a video signal is obtained.
