COOLING ELEMENT FOR SHAFT FURNACES

In a cooling element for shaft furnace walls having a metal plate body (2) and tubes (5) bearing a coolant flow, the lower edge of the plate body (2) is constructed as a support carrier (4) for the refractory masonry (7). The support carrier contains at least one additional cooling tube (6). The cooling element (1) according to the invention is completely assembled outside the furnace in the work-shop. The refractory masonry (7) consists of small-format bricks which are adhesively bonded in concentric ring sections to the plate body or cemented thereto. The refractory bricks are provided with predetermined breaking notches (8). If necessary, the brick courses of the masonry (7) contain expansion joints (9). Bricks of different thermal conductivity can be used for the refractory masonry (7). ……
