PURPOSE:To improve the chipping resistance of the substrate by brushing the formed product of a ceramic powder consisting essentially of Al2O3 to debur the product and to round the angular parts and then calcining the formed product on a tray. CONSTITUTION:An Al2O3 ceramic material consisting essentially of Al2O3 and contg. a sintering assistant such as SiO2, MgO and CaO and a colorant such as MnO2 is admixed with a binder. The mixture is press formed by an upper punch 3 shown in Figure I and then sucked by a duct box 5 arranged on the periphery of a table 2 to prevent the deposition of raw powder on the formed product 1. The product 1 is placed on a belt 10 shown in Figure II, the product 1 is deburred and the deposit, etc., are removed by a cylindrical brush 11 rotated by motors 12 and 13, and the angular parts are simultaneously rounded. The rear is also brushed, and the product is passed through an air blow 14 to completely remove the deposit. The product is finally calcined at >= about >=1450 deg.C to obtain a ceramic substrate having 0.7-1.0mum average roughness along the center line. |
