The sun bed unit uses a number of light sources (12,13) together providing a light output spectrum which corresponds to that of natural sunlight. The light sources (12,13) are contained within a housing which is suspended above a standard single or double bed and which also incorporates a number of ordinary light sources (14,15,16). Pref. the rectangular frame (4) enclosing the UV light sources (12,13) and the ordinary light sources (14,15,16) is made of a material which acts as a light screen for the light sources (12,13,14,15,16) and has a length of between 1 and 2m and a width of between 0.25 and 1.5m. The frame (4) is pref. suspended from the ceiling at either end. ADVANTAGE - Compact unit for use in home.
