PURPOSE: To protect a starting device from the damage caused by dust or the like by arranging the starting device at the end part of a driving shaft having a driving wheel, in a portable handheld working machine provided with the starting device for starting an internal combustion engine by which a working tool for cutting or the like is rotatably driven. CONSTITUTION: A cutting/cutoff machine 1 comprises an internal combustion engine 3 arranged inside a casing 2, a box-shaped driving arm 10 provided with a working tool (cutting disk) 4 at its free end 10a; and it supports a pulley 12 at the end part of the shaft 8 of the cutting disk 4 inside the driving arm 10. Then, the cutting disk 4 is rotated by the internal combustion engine 3 via a toothed belt 13 wound around both the pulley 12 and the pulley (driving wheel) supported on the driving shaft 23 of the internal combustion engine 3. The internal combustion engine 3 is started by a rope-pulling starter 30, however, in this case the starter 30 is arranged at the end part 26 on the supporting side of the driving wheel 14 of the driving shaft 23. |
