Altering tone of electric guitar - by attaching strings to block which can be adjusted for height

The method is for altering the tone of an electric guitar which has a body made entirely of wood. This is achieved by attaching the strings (4) to a baseplate (6) which is mounted on a block (7) which is a press fit in a groove in the body. The block (7) can be pushed upwards in the groove by a screw (15) which enables the height of the strings above the surface of the guitar body to be adjusted. A second adjusting screw (5) enables the tension in each string to be individually adjusted. A further variation in the tone of the guitar can be produced by making the bridge from a material of a different hardness. USE - Electric guitars.
