METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CURLING AND PERMANENT WAVING OF HAIR

Hair rolling apparatus useful in the permanent waving or curling of hair includes a rod (10; 60) with couplings (18; 22) on its opposite ends so that the rods can be connected end to end to produce curling rods of varying lengths. A retainer (26; 80) has an elastic strand (28) with ends (30; 32) that engage with the couplings on the opposite ends of the rod. In use of the apparatus, a section of hair is wound helically onto the rod and twisted about its length as it is so wound. This is capable of producing hair curling effects that are much more varied than with the conventional techniques of the prior art.
