PURPOSE:To obtain an electrode of a large surface area and to give a sufficient charge and discharge property by using a conductive high polymer to which an ion radiation treatment has been applied as an electrode used for a secondary battery. CONSTITUTION:As an electrode to compose a secondary battery, polyaniline, polypyrrole, polythiophene, or one of their derivatives, being a conductive high polymer, is used, to which ions of an inert gas such as He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, or N2, whose ion radiation amount is limited in the scope 10<10>-10<16> ion/cm<2> are radiated. In such a way, ions are hit to the high polymer to generate a physical and chemical variation, weakening the chemical combination to make a cut and bridged condition, and countless recesses are generated on the surface. The size of the recesses generated in this case is estimated to be some several nm, and thereby the surface area of the electrode is increased making the formation porous. Therefore, the surface area is increased without carbonizing the high polymer, and a sufficient charge and discharge property can be obtained. |
