SPUN-DYED POLYPROPYLENE FIBER

PURPOSE:To prevent the subject fiber having excellent heat and light resistance without a large amount of a light stabilizer by adhering an alkylphosphate metal salt to the surface of a spun-dyed polypropylene fiber containing a pigment and a hindered amine light stabilizer. CONSTITUTION:Polypropylene is mixed with a pigment such as carbon black or copper phthalocyanine, a hindered light stabilizer and an antioxidant such as a phenolic antioxidant and subsequently melt-spun to prepare a spun-dyed polypropylene fiber, followed by adhering a surface-treating agent containing 35-100wt.% of an alkylphosphate metal salt to the surface of the fiber to provide the spun-dyed polypropylene fiber having excellent heat and light resistance. The fibers are suitably employed in preparing carpets for interiors in rooms and carpets for automobiles.
