PURPOSE:To improve storage performance by using manganese dioxide heat- treated at a specified range of temperature as a positive active material of an organic solvent battery. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 using press-molded pellet type manganese dioxide as an active material, a negative electrode 2 comprising lithium metal, and a separator 3 impregnated with an organic electrolyte are accommodated in a positive container 4. The positive container 4 is sealed with a negative sealing plate 6 with an insulating gasket 5 interposed to form an organic electrolyte battery. Manganese dioxide acting as the positive active material is heat-treated at a temperature of 450-480 deg.C. The heat-treatment is conducted in an atmosphere of either dried air, nitrogen, or oxygen. |
