PURPOSE: To keep the drive efficiency of an apparatus at a high level over a wide range by calculating a turn-on angle for an appropriate motor current as a function of dwell angle, power supply voltage and motor speed and generating a turn-off angle for an appropriate motor current. CONSTITUTION: A desired motor current is set higher than a level which can be achieved with an available power supply voltage so that a current control loop does not disturb a torque control loop. Duration of dwell angle or motor current is set as a function of input torque command, motor speed and the magnitude of power supply voltage. Subsequently, a turn-on angle θo is calculated as a function of dwell angle, power supply voltage and motor speed. Finally, a turn-off angle is generated by adding the dwell angle to a turn-on angle θp. This arrangement realizes an improved controller where a switching reluctance motor is operated at such a rate as an induced counter electromotive force limits the current control. |
