PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of tailing in chromatography by packing a flow cell with a rod-shaped or tubular scintillator. CONSTITUTION:In a radio liquid chromatograph, a specimen is allowed to flow through a column to be separated at every chemical substances and let flow to a flow cell 10. This sample solution is labelled with a radioactive isotope and the scintillator 12 in the flow cell 12 is allowed to emit light which is, in turn, converted to an electric signal by photomultipliers 14 to be processed. This flow cell 10 is packed with a glass scintillator composed of rod-shaped lithium glass having a diameter of 0.25mm and a length of about 100mm as the scintillator 30. Since this scintillator 30 is prepared by heat treatment processing, there is no adsorption of protein and tailing can be prevented. Since the flow of the sample solution in the flow cell 10 becomes laminar flow, tailing can be prevented.
