PURPOSE:To offer a lighting device with a plane light source made of an assembly of minute light sources by removing one part of the cover of plural optical fibers to form a light leakage portion, and assembling the optical fibers into a plane, and causing light to be incident on one end of the optical fiber bundle. CONSTITUTION:A lighting device 1 has plural optical fibers 3 leading to a light source 2 and divided into a warp group 4 and a weft group 5, and an optical fiber cross 6 comprised by flat weaving the end portions of the groups. The optical fiber cross 6 has its reverse surface bonded to a flat panel 7 and comprises a plane light source (secondary light source) formed on its surface. The optical fibers 3 are curved and a light leakage portion 3a is formed by peeling off a cover 10 provided at their outer ends, and light leaking from the portion 3a is used for illumination. |
