PURPOSE:To stabilize the arc of a low-pressure steam electric-discharge lamp by adjusting appropriately the relationship among the maximum distance, at a section perpendicular to the axis of an outer bulb, between the inner side of the outer glass bulb and the outer side of an inner glass tube, the length of the outer circumference of the inner glass tube, and the number of anodes. CONSTITUTION:A low pressure electric-discharge lamp consists of an outer glass bulb 1 and an inner glass tube 2. The base part of the inner tube 2 is fused to the outer bulb 1, and a space is provided around the extreme end of the inner tube 2. A cathode 6 is installed inside the base part of the inner tube 2, and a plural number of anodes are installed outside the base part of the tube 2. The maximum distance (a) mm. between the inner wall of the outer bulb 1 and the outer wall of the inner tube 2, the length (b) mm. of the outer circumference of the inner tube 2, and the number (n) of the anodes are adjusted so that they satisfy the relationship of adivided by (bdivided by n)>=0.35. |
