PURPOSE:To obtain a light-weight, high-strength and high-elastic golf club by a method wherein a portion of a club head is made of a material prepared in such a way that a thermosetting resin is impregnated into pieces of multi-dimensional fabric of carbon fiber and the impregnated material is heated in an inert gas atmosphere to carbonize it, and thermally-cracked carbon is permeated and deposited in the voids of the carbonized product. CONSTITUTION:For example, a reinforcing member 4 of this invention is used for a portion of a face 3 of wooden head 2 of a wood club driver 1. Pieces of carbon fiber fabric are coated with phenol resin, laminated, and heated at a reduced pressure while compressed from both top and bottom to set the resin component. After the pressure is restored to normal pressure, it is carbonized in an inert gas atmosphere at 60-1000 deg.C to obtain a carbon fiber reinforcing base material. The base material is prepared in two temperature steps of 1000-1200 deg.C and 1500-1600 deg.C so that thermally- cracked carbon is sedimented and deposited into the voids of the base material. The prepared material is immersed in epoxy resin, pressurized up to 1000kg/cm<2> so that epoxy resin is forcibly intruded into fine pores of the prepared material, and than heated up to about 100 deg.C to finish hardening. The reinforcing member 4 is cut into a shape and fitted in the wooden part after the surface is finished.
|
