<p>The weft to be inserted, metal wire or plastic strip, is gripped by the shuttle from either side of the loom and drawn through rollers which are magnetically operated to grip the material as it passes through. As the rollers can be positioned to grip the weft, release it, or brake it, so the weft is kept under constant tension during the insertion phase until the warp closes and clamps it home. This eliminates any coiling, distortion or spring back after insertion.</p> |
