Ein Verfahren und eine Anordnung zur Konfiguration eines Steuerungssystems für Gleisanlagen entsprechend einer Gleiskonfiguration aus mehreren miteinander verbundenen Gleiselementen, wie Weichen, Signalen, Gleisabschnitten oder dgl., wird vorgeschlagen. Jedem Gleiselement ist eine Systemkomponente des Steuerungssystems zugeordnet. Einer der Systemkomponenten des Steuerungssystems wird ein digitaler Identifikationskode zugewiesen. Jede der Systemkomponenten stellt fest, welche Systemkomponenten dem ihr zugeordneten Gleiselement benachbarten Gleiselementen zugeordnet sind. Die benannte Systemkomponente weist den Systemkomponenten der benachbarten Gleiselemente ihres Gleiselementes einen Namen zu. Die so benannten Systemkomponenten verfahren ebenso.
