PURPOSE:To eliminate coloration depending upon the direction in which the liquid crystal device is seen by providing the NTN type liquid crystal device with a color compensating plate which looks bluish when viewed in the opposite side of the normal direction from the liquid crystal cell side of a deflecting plate, and yellowish when viewed in a direction off the normal direction. CONSTITUTION:Such color compensating plates that although transmitted light of illumination parts looks yellowish when viewed in the normal direction, and bluish when viewed in a direction off the normal direction, the transmitted light looks bluish when viewed in the normal direction and yellowish when viewed in a direction off the normal direction are used one over another in the NTN device. Their coloring states offset one another and there is no coloration depending upon the direction of viewing the liquid crystal device. Consequently, even if the pretilt angle of liquid crystal molecules is increased while the twist angle of liquid crystal is increased, the liquid crystal which is small in coloration difference depending upon the viewing direction is obtained. |
