PURPOSE:To supply a predetermined pulse voltage to a lamp regardless of wiring length from a stabilizer to a lamp by disposing a pulse control unit between the stabilizer and the lamp, for adjusting the height of the generating pulse of a pulse generating means according to the wiring length from the stabilizer to the lamp. CONSTITUTION:The lighting device has a stabilizer 1 wherein a pulse generating means is mounted, a pulse control unit 2 connected to the lamp side output end of the stabilizer 1, and a metal steam discharge lamp 3 such as a high pressure sodium lamp. The pulse control unit 2 includes a condensor 5 connected between lines in such a manner as being connected in parallel to the lamp 3, and the capacity of the condensor 5 is set according to wiring length between the stabilizer 1 and the lamp 3: i.e., it is mainly because of the distributed capacity of a wire used for wiring that the height of pulse is reduced according to wiring length between the lamp 3 and the stabilizer 1. A predetermined starting pulse voltage is thereby supplied to the lamp 3 regardless of the wiring length between the lamp 3 and the stabilizer 1. |
