HV pulse generating circuit - has magnetic pulse compression circuit with saturable main choke, and resetting circuit

The pulse generating circuit has a magnetic pulse compression circuit with a saturatable main choke (10), and a resetting circuit with a second saturable choke for the supply of the main choke with a pulsed current. The latter adjusts the magnetic flux density of the main choke to a preset, constant value at the start of a gate pulse. Pref. an overvoltage is generated in the saturatable main choke and supplied to the resetting circuit. Thus it is prevented to operate the second saturatable choke in a non-saturating range. The pulsed current for magnetic flux density adjustment is applied to the main choke at the start of the gate pulse, when the second choke is operated in its saturation range. USE/ADVANTAGE - For vapour, excimer lasers etc., with high pulse repition rate and reliability.
