The combined video camera and video recording device provides an electric signal representing the camera image converted into a video signal which is subsequently recorded. The viewed image is displayed electrically via an electronic viewfinder with a common power supply providing the current for the image sensor, the recording device and the viewfinder, the current to the latter selectively disconnected by a switch. Pref. the switch allows the current to be supplied to the electronic. viewfinder when the user's eye is brought into alignment with the eyepiece of the electronic viewfinder, e.g. in response to press against the eyepiece.
