PURPOSE:To execute the optical coupling without using an optical coupler and to miniaturize the device by forming a light reflecting layer having a refractive index being different from a refractive index of an optical waveguide layer along a straight line intersecting with the surface and the back face of the optical waveguide layer. CONSTITUTION:As for this light reflecting layer 3, two layers are provided on the part being near the left for leading an incident light I into an optical waveguide layer 2, and the part being near the right for fetching a light beam propagated in the optical waveguide layer 2 to the outside, respectively. In this state, from the direction being orthogonal to the surface 21 in the upper part of the surface 22 of the optical waveguide layer 2, the incident light I is made incident and reflected by the light reflecting layer 3 and its advance direction is varied, the incident light I is led into the optical waveguide 2 and becomes a light beam propagated in the optical waveguide layer 2, and also, this led-in light beam is reflected by the light reflecting layer 3 provided on the part being different from a leading-in part of the incident light I and fetched to the outside. In such a way, an optical coupler being separate parts becomes unnecessary, and an optical device can be miniaturized easily. |
