The invention concerns exercise equipment formed by an elastic main band 1 and two preferably flexible and cylinder-shaped hand grips 6 through which the main band runs. At the ends of the band there are preferably releasable knots for preventing the band from sliding out of the hand grips. The hand grips 6 are joined by an elastic connecting band 5 which runs through each hand grip transverse to the longitudinal direction of the hand grip. At the ends of the connection band, there are preferably knots 5a, 5b which hold the connection band securely in the hand grips. The space between the inner surface of the hand grips and the connection band 5 is such that the knotted end of the main band cannot run through the said space. The tensile strength of the equipment can be changed in a simple manner, for example by changing the band lengths or thicknesses or by increasing or reducing the number of bands. The equipment can be used in several ways, it is light and inexpensive to manufacture, and it is completely safe since it has no springs or parts which can come loose or be detached by mistake. <IMAGE>
