<p>A novel form of brushless motor is described wherein an array of strong permanent magnets is provided around the periphery of a disc-shaped or cylindrical rotor element and a pulsed magnetic field is produced in a stator to cause the strong permanent magnets in the array to be repulsed and hence the rotor element to turn. The pulsed magnetic field may be produced by electromagnetic coils or by pole-switching permanent magnets.</p> |
