PURPOSE:To reduce the misrecognition of a pattern and to improve work efficiency by enlarging and reflecting a display pattern displayed on the circumferential surface of a cylindrical member into a developed state by a circular-arc- shaped mirror and imaging it as a picture free from distortion at its circumferential part on an image pickup surface. CONSTITUTION:At first, the quality of the positioning of the cylindrical member 1 is discriminated by confirming whether the image of a positioning confirming mark 5 is distorted or not through the circular-arc-shaped mirror 2 and the image pickup surface 3. Then, if the positioning is appropriate, the non-defective pattern 4a of template 6 and the display pattern 4 of the developed image 1a of the cylindrical member 1 are matched with each other, and the name of article, etc., of the cylindrical member 1 is recognized and discriminated. Besides, the cylindrical member discriminated to be defective at the discrimination of the quality of the positioning is rejected or is corrected in the positioning and is given above-mentioned processing. |
