PURPOSE:To more rapidly and stably form a high contrast polymer image by incorporating a specified reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:A compd. represented by the formula as a reducing agent 4 is incorporated into the photosensitive layer 1 of a photosensitive body. In the formula, each of R1-R6 is H, halogen, alkyl, etc., R is H or alkyl, R' is H or alkoxyl and each of m and n is 0-2. The layer 1 is imagewise exposed and silver unclei 3 are formed in the exposed part 1-a. The photosensitive body is heated and an org. silver salt is allowed to react with the component 4 such as 4-dimethylaminobenzoyl-3'-chloro-4'-hydroxyphenyl carbinol in the presence of the silver unclei 3 as a catalyst to convert the component 4 in the exposed part 1-a into oxide 5. The photosensitive body is then uniformly exposed, a polymerizable precursor of a polymer is polymerized in accordance with the distribution of the component 4 and the oxide 5 to form a polymerized part 6 and etching is carried out to form a polymer image. |
