A video endoscope system for the examination of the cervix comprises: a rigid, elongated tubular member (19) having a light guide (3); imaging means (6, 8) at the distal end of said tubular member, a disposable, light-transmitting, sleeve (4) disposed about the distal end of said tubular member; and transmitting means (14) to transmit an image viewed by said imaging means (6, 8) proximally to a control box (16) wherein said image is received and stored.
