[Also in Group XXV] A container having a body 11 and a closure member 12 is provided with a pair of members 13, 14 that are arranged to act respectively as a hinge member and a fastener member, the two members being similar to each other in shape and size and being mounted for pivotal movement about spaced parallel axes, each member having an aperture or notch 16 at a position remote from its pivotal axis through-which extends a fastening element 17 when the member is being used as a hinged member and through which can extend a retaining-element 18 when the member is being used as a fastener member whereby the fastener member is retained in a closed position, the arrangement being such that the closure member can be hingedly connected to the body on either of two opposite sides as required. As shown, the fastening element is a screw and the retaining element is a stud having a screw-threaded stem so that it can be interchanged with the screw. A resilient sealing member 19 is interposed between the body and closure member and this serves to retain the member 14 in engagement with the neck of the stud. As shown the container receives an electric lamp 10 the closure member 12 being transparent or translucent. |
