PURPOSE:To produce a foam having multicolor patterns without any unexpanded part by adding and mixing polyolefin chips with a polyolefin compound having the melting temperature and hue different from those of the polyolefin chips at a specific temperature and then expanding the resultant mixture. CONSTITUTION:(A) A crosslinking agent, a foaming agent and a pigment are added to a polyolefin and the resultant mixture is kneaded while being heated to provide a sheetlike or rodlike form. The obtained mixture is then pulverized or cut to afford one or several kinds of chips having different hues. The resultant chips are subsequently added and mixed with (B) a compound composed of a polyolefin having a lower melting temperature than that of the polyolefin in the component (A), a crosslinking agent, a foaming agent and a pigment having a hue different from that of the pigment in the component (A) at a temperature below the melting point of the polyolefin in the component (A) and above the melting point of the polyolefin in the component (B) to afford an expandable compound (C), which is then filled in a metallic mold, heated under pressure and expanded to provide a foam having multicolor patterns. |
